Society6.com/Alyssajane

I recently stumbled upon Society6.com, which for those of you who don't know, is a great community for artists to share their work with each other and the public.

You can like, promote and purchase prints (or other novelty items) from the site and support the artist at the same time.

Bonus: They ship to Canada! Yay!

I will be updating this periodically with new work but for now I wanted to share some of what is available on my profile at society6.com/alyssajane

There are more items available but these were some of my favourite ones.
If you're feeling extra nice today please feel free to click the "promote" button on my profile!

Costa's Chocolate Caramel Shortbread Recipe Steal

If any of you have read my post from last year about my trip to England, you'll know I picked one of these up whenever we went to Costa. They've changed name but were once called Belgian Chocolate Shortbread Cake and they are amazing!

Apparently these are also called "Millionaire's Shortbread" over here but I don't prefer that name. Something about it reminds that they are rich....rich in calories. Regardless, they are probably my favourite dessert ever.

Under The Sea... And By Sea, I Mean Pool

I have to start off by saying that the Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone is the absolute best I've ever had. Although it doesn't match a DSLR in flexibility, the 20 megapixel camera and underwater features make for some incredible shots. Keep in mind some of these have been shrunk down and taken from stills out of the video feature so the quality here is not the best it could be.

I really wanted to do some underwater shots and after spending  3 hours in the pool and drinking about a gallon of salt water, here they are!

It Must Be The Sunshine...

The last couple days of rain have left me missing the hot weather we had last week. But that hasn't stopped me from reminiscing on some of my favourite summer things. Burgers & Sorbet.

Kettle Drums Restaurant & Bar opened up a couple of years ago but despite it being just down the road from my house - I don't go much. Here's the thing - The first time I went it was AMAZING. The Second time I went (about a year later) it was not so great. The food wasn't bad but the service was incredibly slow. I decided third time's the charm and had also heard it was under new management so we give it another shot.

Lisa and I headed down for dinner and I was really excited because despite the one poor experience, they serve their own Homemade Root Beer which is one of my favourite things on the menu next to the Sweet Potato Kettle Chips. It seems a little daunting at first because its a really light/clear colour which is the complete opposite of what you'd expect a root beer to look like, but its delicious nonetheless.

What I Get Up To...

It's been a little while since my last post and a lot of things have happened since then. For one, I reconnected with one of my old high-school best friends, Lisa and it's been really great catching up and hanging out. It's always nice to have those friends who have been with you since you were knee-high to a grasshopper (Lisa and I met in public school). We went for dinner at one of her favourite spots in Peterborough The Favourite Greek. I hadn't been there before but I absolutely loved it! Save for the grape leaf wrapped rice, the food was fantastic.

A New Hobby

About a month ago, out of nowhere, I decided that I wanted to get a sketch book and just start drawing. When I first purchased it I did a few sketches that looked no better than 4-year old Alyssa's drawing.

After doing a bit research (combined with a lot of free time while answering phone calls at work) I started trying to improve my skills to see what I was capable of.

I've always been into the arts and admired those who could paint, sculpt, draw or taking amazing photographs. Although I studied a bit of art, I never excelled in any particular field because I wasn't driven and had thus never really tried my hand at drawing.

So today I've decided to share some of the sketches that I've been working on in the past few weeks and hope to get some feedback so please leave a comment below with what you think!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm Review

The last while I haven't been bothered to wear a lot of balms or lipstick but decided it was time to change that with the recent gorgeous spring weather. It's the perfect time to change up your look a little bit and add some colour.

I'll be honest, when it comes to lip colour I tend to air on the side of caution and stick to light pinks or red. Purples, oranges, fluorescent pinks and other psychedelic colours freak me out a little bit. This time though I was on a mission - to buy something peachy or orange. I watched one of Zoella's recent vlogs in which she is wearing this exact colour and I thought it was so pretty (although nothing really looks bad on her at all).

Some of This, Some of That

This weekend was rather uneventful. Other than going for lunch with Kristen, the majority of my time was spent studying.

Healthy Apple Cinnamon Pancakes

As I mentioned in my last post I've been on somewhat of a health kick lately. I made these the other day and they are a much healthier alternative to the traditional pancake.

Breakfast for Two

I love getting up early in the mornings and sipping a cuppa before starting the day. Unfortunately, my mornings haven't seemed to play out that way in a very long time. Mostly they consist of rolling out of bed an hour before I have to be somewhere leaving me just enough time to shower and get ready to leave, never mind making breakfast....

Quick & Easy Bruschetta

Growing up bruschetta was one of my favourite foods. We'd always order it when dining out or just make it at home for a snack. Granted then I used to make it after school using the jarred Classico stuff but I really prefer to make it from scratch...
